Prince Harry was dashing in his recent engagement sans his wife, Meghan Markle.

The Duke of Sussex stepped out on Tuesday to attend the fifth anniversary of the Invictus Games in London. Prince Harry looked dapper in his smart blue suit and green tie. He also sported an Invictus Games badge on his lapel.

Despite Markle’s absence, the duke appeared to be in good spirits. The Duchess of Sussex is thought to be at home looking after their son after she flew to New York over the weekend to support her close pal Serena Williams at the U.S. Open finals.

Prince Harry delivered a speech at the event. In his emotional speech, the father of one said that it was “genuinely one of the greatest honors of my life” to work with the inspirational servicemen and women behind the Invictus Games, which he started in 2014.

Invictus Games is an international adaptive multi-sport event for the wounded, injured or sick armed services personnel and their associated veterans. They take part in nine sports including wheelchair basketball, sitting volleyball, indoor rowing and more.

Prince Harry couldn’t believe that it has been five years since the event started. The duke said that while the players’ limbs haven’t grown back, their mental health has improved. It also completely changed how they view disability and mental health.

Prince Harry recalled the hard times and said that he was very pleased to know all those men and women who participated in the event and he was glad to see them through the process.

“Harry has kept us a going every step of the way,” said JJ Chalmers, a former competitor, who was injured in a bomb blast in Afghanistan in 2011.

Meanwhile, Dominic Reid, chief executive of the Invictus Games Foundation, described Prince Harry as “the beating heart of Invictus.”

“He’s driven this, he is responsible for this. It’s him that always drags us back to what this is about: the competitors, their recovery and their families,” Reid said.

Although Markle was not present, she attended Invictus Games in the past. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex made their first public appearance as a couple at the 2017 Invictus Games in Toronto. They were photographed holding hands when they made their way to a Paralympic-style wheelchair tennis event.
