Prince Harry and Meghan Markle could reportedly follow in Prince Charles and Camilla’s footsteps within the next 20 years.

While speaking with True Royalty TV, royal commentator Kate Thornton likened the treatment that Prince Harry and Markle have been receiving to the treatment that the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall received decades ago.

“It’s worth thinking about here, though, if we rewind 20 years, whoever thought we would see Camilla being embraced by the public and the family? So, who knows what the next 20 years bring in terms of how these roles evolve? She was arguably not just the most hated woman in Britain, possibly on the planet for a long time. And here she is,” she said.

Royal author Katie Nicholl echoed Thornton’s statement by saying that Prince Harry and Markle’s relationship with the public could come full circle years after Megxit.

"Camilla's rehabilitation has been pretty remarkable and I think it takes us neatly back to Meghan. Yes, I think, without a doubt, she’s had a tough time but give them a chance. I think things could come full circle for them,” she said.

Decades ago, Camilla and Prince Charles were criticized by the media and by royal fans due to their affair while the heir to the throne was still married to Princess Diana. Shortly after the Princess of Wales’ death, Prince Charles and Camilla tied the knot in a civil ceremony.

At that time, Camilla still didn’t receive a high approval rating from royal fans and even Queen Elizabeth II. But over the years, the Duchess of Cornwall proved that she’s a responsible royal, and fans started warming up to her.

However, thousands of Britons still don’t want Camilla to be their future queen because they are still attached to the memory of Prince William and Prince Harry’s mom. An online survey revealed that only 14 percent of the respondents want her to be queen.
