  • Prince Harry spoke to mourners during a walkabout Saturday with Meghan Markle, Prince William and Kate Middleton
  • The Duke of Sussex spoke about his grief over the death of his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II
  • The walkabout marked the first time in over two years that the Sussexes and Cambridges made a public appearance together

Prince Harry reflected on the loss of his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, during a public appearance two days after the monarch's death.

On Saturday, Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle joined Prince William and Kate Middleton on a surprise walkabout at Windsor Castle and greeted mourners lining the streets of London in honor of Queen Elizabeth II, who died Thursday at the age of 96.

In a video obtained by The Sun, the Duke of Sussex made an emotional admission about how things felt different inside the royal residence following the long-reigning monarch's passing.

"It's a lonely place up there now without her," he told several royal fans. "Every room she was in, we felt her presence throughout."

The walkabout marked the first time in more than two years that Prince Harry, Markle, Prince William and Middleton — once dubbed the "Fab Four" by the British press — made a public appearance as a foursome.

Prince Harry and Markle were last seen with the Prince and Princess of Wales during the Sussexes' final engagement as working royals, the Commonwealth Day service at Westminster Abbey in March 2020.

Prince Harry and Markle have been in the U.K. since last week for a series of charitable events. However, prior to the Queen's passing, the couple, who allegedly has a "frosty" relationship with the members of the Firm, reportedly had no plans to meet with any of the royals.

"No, because it seems that [their] relations are a still a little frosty. Let's put it that way," royal commentator Victoria Arbiter claimed on "Sunrise" on Sept. 5 when asked about a possible reunion between Sussexes and the royal family.

She added, "During the Platinum Jubilee, [Harry and Meghan] skipped out of town before the Jubilee celebrations had even finished. London was still cheering and waving the Queen on, and Harry and Meghan were on a plane to Los Angeles. I think there are probably still trust issues given we still don't know when Harry's memoir is going to be coming out and of course, the recent comments from the duchess in her interview for The Cut."

Despite the reported tensions between the Sussexes and the royal family, Kensington Palace said Prince William invited Prince Harry and Markle to join him and Middleton on the walkabout over the weekend, People reported.

The heir to the throne believed that it "was an important show of unity at an incredibly difficult time for the family," an unnamed royal source told the outlet.

Royal fans were happy to see the "Fab Four" together again and expressed hope that King Charles' two sons would eventually reconcile.

"Great. William, Harry, Kate and Meghan together! This makes me so happy!" one tweeted.

"This is exactly what we all needed to see right now, and I'm sure the Queen would be delighted to see Princes William and Harry together along with Kate and Meghan," another royal fan wrote.
