Prince Philip may skip Princess Beatrice's royal wedding due to coronavirus.

Princess Beatrice’s big day has faced tons of challenges. According to a royal expert, the Duke of Edinburgh, who retreated to Windsor to remain isolated, might not make it to the event due to COVID-19.

“If the coronavirus reaches Italian proportions in the U.K., I seriously doubt the Duke will run the risk of travelling to London for Beatrice’s wedding,” Phil Dampier told Access. “He has not been coming into contact with many people in recent weeks.”

Princess Beatrice and Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi’s royal wedding is set to take place at the Chapel Royal in St. James’s Palace with the reception in the the Buckingham Palace grounds. The expert added that the event might be canceled due to the coronavirus outbreak.

“The Queen is soldiering on and at moment there are no plans to cancel any of the garden parties planned for the summer. But if the coronavirus gets worse, I can’t imagine the palace powers-that-be will want her meeting and greeting thousands of people. Not at her age,” he added.

Meanwhile, Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Philip, Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles might be forced to isolate themselves from the public. Health Secretary Matt Hancock has confirmed that the government is planning to ask people over 70 years old to stay at home for up to four months. The Queen, 94, Duke of Edinburgh, 98, Prince of Wales, 71, and Duchess of Cornwall, 72, will all be affected by this guideline.

“Is the government serious in forcing the over 70s into isolation for four months? That means The Queen, The Prince of Wales & Duchess of Cornwall will have to stay home as will the majority of the @UKHouseofLords _ around 14m off the streets. Who came up with that daft idea?” Queen Elizabeth II’s former spokesman Dickie Arbiter wrote on Twitter.

Jason Leitch, the national clinical director for the Scottish government, said that there are no plans to ask people over 70 years old to completely isolate themselves. He added that they are working on a guidance for them to reduce their social contact for their own safety.
