Prince Philip and Queen Elizabeth II were recently criticized for not obeying the law.

Stephen Glover, a journalist for Daily Mail, said that ardent royalists couldn’t help but ask him why the Duke of Edinburgh and Her Majesty just don’t buckle up while driving their cars like everyone else.

The source said that there is an ongoing discussion on why the royal couple is not prepared to observe the same laws that everyone else is expected to abide by.

“Are they aware of the effect of their bloomers? Do their advisers understand?” Glover wondered.

“My worry is that if what was mercifully a fairly minor event can spiral out of control so easily, something similar might happen in the future. Is there a failure in the system that needs to be put right?” he added.

Prince Philip was involved in a car accident last week, but he was able to get out of the incident unscathed. The Queen’s 97-year-old husband was driving his Land Rover outside Sandringham estate when he collided with a Kia that had three passengers in it.

Following the accident, Prince Philip was rushed to the hospital for a routine checkup. His breath was also checked but passed. One day later, Her Majesty was photographed driving on the estate with a companion but without her seatbelt on.

The monarch’s sighting led royal fans to become even more concerned about her and Prince Philip’s welfare, especially since they are both seniors.

In related news, Prince Philip also made headlines this week after his difficult relationship with Prince Charles was revisited. In the documentary “Prince Philip – A King Among Princes,” royal correspondent Robert Johnson claimed that the Duke of Edinburgh didn’t have any serious role models growing up so he wanted to be one for his children.

Author Penny Junor said that this was one of the reasons why Prince Philip didn’t get along well with Prince Charles. The two male royals didn’t talk to each other as normal father and son. Prince Philip might have found Prince Charles as slightly exasperating.
