Prince William and Prince Harry have both experienced what it’s like to be overshadowed by their wives, Kate Middleton, and Meghan Markle, respectively. Even though the Dukes don’t seem the mind the attention that their wives are getting, a royal expert said that this is concerning for the public.

During a recent interview with Express, royal expert Daniela Elser said that the media’s obsession with Markle is detracting the public from seeing Prince Harry’s good work. Last month, the Duchess of Sussex made headlines when she launched her capsule collection in partnership with Smart Works.

One day after the launch, Markle continued to make headlines not only for her latest partnership but also for the clothes that she wore to the event. The media also focused their attention on the fact that the launch served as Markle’s official return to her royal duties after her maternity leave.

Prince Harry also returned to work shortly after, but the stories written about him were not as hyped as the ones that have been written about his wife.

“Based on column inches and internet stories you would have been hard-pressed to find much mention of the fact that the same day his wife was making a dazzling return to work, Harry was visiting a program to encourage kids to play rugby, hugging and high-fiving youngsters with only a few brief news stories about his visit,” Elser said.

The royal expert said that Prince William experienced the same thing when she and Middleton went to North America after they tied the knot in 2011. At that time, it became evident that the Duke of Cambridge was reduced to a supporting role because all eyes were on the Duchess of Cambridge.

But this isn’t to say that Prince William and Prince Harry mind the attention that their wives are receiving. However, the same cannot be said about their dad, Prince Charles. When Princess Diana was still alive, the heir to the throne was reportedly upset with how his wife eclipsed him.
