Princess Anne previously shared her experience touring Fiji, Tonga, and New Zealand in 1970. During their week-long tour, Princess Anne revealed that she and her older brother, Prince Charles, were given a couple of days to rest while their parents are engaged in their royal duties.

During her interview on “Parkinson in Australia,” the host asked Princess Royal if she and her older brother were taught about what they should do while on tour. The mom of two said that there is no such thing as a school for royal touring.

“I’m afraid it comes with experience. If you ask the questions you may get the answer, but you rather tend to have to ask the question before you get the answer. Because you grow up with it so they rather think you know everything – and you don’t!” she said.

During his interview, Princess Anne’s youngest sibling, Prince Edward, also said a similar thing. The dad of two revealed that there is no instruction whatsoever on what they should do while they are on tour. But he received important advice from the senior royals.

“I think the only piece of advice I was given was: ‘Don’t treat it like a receiving line.’ So, don’t start shaking hands, because once you have shaken one person’s hand you are completely stuck – you have to shake everyone’s hand,” he said.

Princess Anne is not also known for shaking hands in public. But she did it while she was on tour in 1970 and had a wonderful experience. During her interview on “Parkinson in Australia,” she also said that the only thing she wanted to make sure of was not to get into trouble. However, she ended up getting into more trouble.

Princess Royal was told that she wasn’t looking the right way or saying the right thing simply because she wanted to stay out of the way. She also learned during this time that the press wasn’t necessarily fond of her sulky behavior.
