Peter Hitchens made a surprising comparison between Donald Trump and Princess Diana.

During a phone interview with George Galloway for "The Mother of All Talk Shows." the host asked Hitchens his thoughts on Trump and Vladimir Putin's summit in Helsinki. The latter mentioned the late Princess of Wales in his response, claiming that the two have something in common.

"He reminds me of another major political figure who didn't really have an examination of results to rub together, who couldn't read or didn't read, who knew very little history, but was fantastically superlatively cunning, and that other person is, of course, Princess Diana," Hitchens told Talk Radio.

"Similarly, she had none of the supposed qualifications, but she could run rings around any politician you cared to name, and so can he," Hitchens added. "It's cunning rather than knowledge that does it; I think he's a fairly crude person, what he's been doing in Europe is all aimed at his own political strength. Britain has nothing to offer Donald Trump, we're just a stage on which he can cavort."

Some netizens shared their thoughts about the comparison after Hitchens shared his interview on Twitter.

"Both were emotionally unstable," Joanne Louise Leeson commented.

"As pretty as a picture, as dumb as a box of frogs but as cunning as a fox," The Metamorphobro wrote.

"Are you expecting another 'accident' too?" John wrote.

According to Penny Junor, Princess Diana broke down after discovering Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles' romance. The biographer added that the Prince of Wales' friend were concerned about their romance as Princess Diana was apparently "badly educated, naive, and - by her own admission - immature."

Penny Romsey was also worried that Princess Diana was more in love with the concept than the man, himself. She reportedly once heard the late princess say: "If I am lucky enough to be the Princess of Wales."

"It was as if Diana were auditioning for a part, rather than truly understanding what she'd be taking on. And she seemed to enjoy being photographed all the time, while protesting at the intrusiveness of the Press," Junor wrote.

In related news, Trump met the Queen last week. However, Prince Charles and Prince William reportedly refused to join them and snubbed the American politician. According to the palace, it was not true, the dukes were originally not part of the meetup.
