Princess Diana had a rough relationship with Lady Gabriella’s mom. Princess Michael of Kent.

On Saturday, another royal wedding will be celebrated as Lady Gabriella Windsor ties the knot with her fiancé, financier Thomas Kingston. A day before the big day, Princess Diana and Princess Michael’s relationship was revisited to highlight their “ferocious” row.

A number of royal experts revealed in the Channel 5 documentary “The Royal Family at War” that Princess Diana and Princess Michael of Kent didn’t share a close relationship despite being palace neighbors. According to the late Princess of Wales’ former bodyguard Ken Wharfe, Princess Diana used to refer to Princess Michael as the “U-Boat Commander.”

The would see each other on rare occasions and were “very pally” but it was just a “bit of a facade.”

“I don’t think her relationship with the Royal Family is particularly friendly,” Wharfe said of Princess Michael of Kent.

“There was this air of snobbery I always found about her.”

Royal author Katie Nicholl said that Lady Gabriella’s mother described Princess Diana as “nasty and bitter.” Princess Michael of Kent also reportedly alleged that Prince Charles was jealous of his wife’s fame.

She added that Princess Diana was merely a “womb” for Prince Charles and she commented on the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s relationship, saying that Prince William is “too young” to marry Kate Middleton.

“Princess Michael was a little bit free with her tongue in complaining about the royals,” former royal aide Dickie Arbiter said.

Lady Gabriella’s ex-boyfriend Aatish Taseer also revealed that Princess Michael disapproves of commoners like Middleton and Meghan Markle. Princess Michael reportedly believes that it’s a bad idea for a royal to marry a commoner.

Richard Kay also said that the young royals are not close to the Kents. In fact, Princess Michael, who was dubbed as Princess Pushy and a “generous hostess,” is unlikely to party with Prince William, Middleton, Prince Harry and Markle. Also, Prince Harry and Markle didn’t invite the children of the Gloucesters, the Kents and the Michaels on their big day.

Princess Michael made headlines in 2017 when she wore a blackamoor brooch at the royal family’s annual Christmas lunch. Many deemed it offensive, especially since Markle, a woman of color, was present at the gathering.

Princess Michael quickly apologized for the inconvenience her accessory caused. She said that it was a gift and she has been wearing it many times. She was distressed that it offended some people.
