Princess Eugenie was reportedly touched when she learned that 100,000 people applied to attend her royal wedding on Oct. 12.

Alice Scarsi, a journalist for Express, revealed that the 28-year-old princess has followed in Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s footsteps by opening the invitation to her royal wedding to the public.

“Her Royal Highness Princess Eugenie and Mr. Jack Brooksbank have been touched by the many good wishes they have received in the run-up to their wedding on 12 October,” a statement from the palace stated.

Additionally, the palace confirmed that Queen Elizabeth II has allowed for the grounds of Windsor to be opened on Princess Eugenie and Brooksbank’s wedding day so that their guests could see their union in person.

“After receiving over 100,000 applications, invitations have now gone out to the 1,200 members of the public who will join them on the day,” the palace stated.

However, the invite does not extend to the ceremony or the reception that will follow. The invitees will only have access to Windsor’s grounds to watch the arrival and departure of Princess Eugenie and Brooksbank at St. George’s Chapel.

Scarsi spoke with a source that said Princess Eugenie and Brooksbank invited 1,200 guests from different organizations and charities.

“The couple has asked that the people chosen are from a broad range of backgrounds and ages, including young people who have shown strong leadership, and those who have served their communities,” the palace noted.

Following the ceremony, Princess Eugenie and Brooksbank will also have a carriage procession around Windsor. This will start from the Royal Mews, which is outside the Windsor Castle and will reach the High Street.

“Opportunities for members of the public wishing to view the couple are on Castle Hill, the High Street, and Park Street, echoing the route taken by The Earl and Countess of Wessex following their wedding. The carriage will not travel along the Long Walk,” the palace confirmed.
