  • Redditors predict "Nier Automata" and "Resident Evil 2 Remake" for April's PS Plus free games
  • The impending release of "Nier Replicant" and "RE: Village" increases the odds of these games going free
  • Gamers are still hoping for "The Order 1886" to go free on PS Plus

The restless denizens of the r/PlayStationPlus subreddit are placing their bets on the upcoming free games for April’s PS Plus offer, and some of the guesses actually have a decent chance of being correct.

Among the many games being mentioned in the monthly game guess threads in the subreddit, “Nier: Automata” and “Resident Evil 2” have the best odds of going free next month. If March’s “Final Fantasy 7 Remake” and the announcement for “Oddworld: Soulstorm” going free for April are to be taken into consideration, both of the predicted games could go free in the following months.

It’s no secret that the PS Plus free games listings are often used to promote upcoming titles. “FF7R” went free to hype up the PS5 release and the “Intergrade” story expansion. This marketing tactic is further emphasized with the caveat included in “FF7R’s free version,” which is that it’s not eligible for the free next-gen upgrade.

“Oddworld: Soulstorm” is also included in April’s free PS Plus games but only for PS5 consoles as part of the game’s promotion.

If these patterns persist, then PS Plus subscribers can expect to see some prequel titles of upcoming games in the future. The upcoming release of “Nier Replicant” and “Resident Evil Village” makes this the perfect time for Sony to introduce these games’ prequels as part of April’s free PS Plus games.

It’s worth noting that Reddit users have a track record of correctly predicting free PS Plus games based on this logic. Users have correctly predicted “FF7R” last month, even prior to the leaks on social media. February’s “Concrete Genie” and “Control” were also guessed correctly.

Some users are also predicting “Life Is Strange” and “Dying Light” to go free on PS Plus because of their incoming sequels. “Life Is Strange: True Colors” is slated to release in September, while “Dying Light 2” is expected to come out sometime this year.

However, these are just predictions, and not every Redditor makes guesses based on the current state of gaming in terms of new releases. Up until now, users are still hoping for “The Order 1886” to go free in PlayStation’s subscription service even after two whole console generations.
