Queen Elizabeth II made Prince Charles cry due to her mean comments about Camilla Parker Bowles.

The Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall had a hard time convincing the people to support their romance. Princess Diana revealed in her infamous Panorama interview that her relationship with Prince Charles didn’t work because “there were three of us in this marriage,” implying about Prince Charles and Camilla’s affair. The late Princess of Wales won the public’s sympathy after that.

According to Tom Bower in his book “Rebel Prince: The Power, Passion and Defiance of Prince Charles,” the Queen also did not support her son’s affair with Camilla. In fact, Her Majesty “actively disapproved” Prince Charles and Camilla’s relationship.

One time, Prince Charles approached his mother to request her approval for his and Camilla’s romance. The future king also reportedly wanted his mother to end her cold treatment toward Camilla.

Unfortunately, it was a bad timing for the heir apparent. The Queen had drunk several martinis and reportedly called Camilla a “wicked woman” before adding that she wanted “nothing to do” with the Duchess of Cornwall.

The Queen’s mean comments about Prince Charles’ love hurt the latter and made him cry. Prince Charles “tearfully” called Camilla after his encounter with the monarch to inform her of his mother’s response, People reported.

There were also rumors claiming that Queen Elizabeth II asked the second-in-line to the throne to dump Camilla after Princess Diana’s death. However, Prince Charles didn’t heed his mom’s advice. Netizens have different takes about the speculation.

Deanna Eppers said that it was true because the Queen felt that they no longer needed another bad press, so Camilla had to go. Meanwhile, another said that it was not true because Her Majesty was aware how Camilla made Prince Charles happy.

Queen Elizabeth II and Camilla’s relationship improved over the years. When the monarch delivered a speech on Prince Charles’ 70th birthday, Her Majesty mentioned Camilla and recognized her contributions in making the future king his own man who is passionate and creative.
