Queen Elizabeth, Prince Charles, and Prince William were reportedly not informed beforehand that Prince Harry would be releasing a statement regarding his wife, Meghan Markle. The Duke of Sussex wrote his statement without any guidance from his advisers and the palace.

Royal correspondent Emily Andrews said that the senior royals only learned about Prince Harry’s extraordinary move after his statement was already released. And according to a royal source, Her Majesty will not be very impressed with the timing of Prince Harry and Markle’s legal action.

“This is not the done thing on a royal tour when the principals are representing the Queen and country. I can’t imagine the Queen will be very impressed,” the source told The Sun.

Prince Harry isn’t the first member of the royal family to release a statement in an attempt to protect his wife. Prince Edward and Prince William have also done the same things years ago. However, both of them released a statement under the palace.

In the 1990s, Prince Edward and Sophie, Countess of Wessex’s relationship became very public. At that time, the paparazzi followed Sophie everywhere and Prince Edward was not pleased.

The dad of two released a statement in 1993 amid rumors that he will soon be proposing to Sophie. In the letter, he pleaded with reporters and photographers to stop destroying the part of his life that he is entitled to. He also asked them to stop disturbing Sophie.

Years later, Prince William released a statement urging the media and the paparazzi to leave Kate Middleton alone. The first incident took place before the couple got engaged. Paparazzi flocked to the Duchess of Cambridge’s Chelsea flat thinking that an engagement announcement was looming.

One year after the couple tied the knot, the Duke of Cambridge released a statement after topless photos of Middleton made front-page news. But both of Prince William’s statements were released via Kensington Palace.

Prince Harry’s letter, on the other hand, wasn’t printed with the Buckingham Palace or Kensington Palace official letterhead.
