On Wednesday, horror fans got a first look at "A Quiet Place: Part II." The upcoming 2020 horror film is a sequel to 2018's "A Quiet Place," which starred John Krasinski, Emily Blunt, Millicent Simmonds, and others.

In the clip below, we see Emily's character, Evelyn Abbott, slowly walking with her children as they carry their various belongings. Blunt eventually turns around and makes eye contact with her family as they seemingly appear to silently signify what they should do next.

Although the newly-released clip is only 30 seconds long, it was accompanied by an announcement that a full-length trailer is coming on New Year's Day.

Beyond the short glimpse of the upcoming movie, Krasinski, who served as writer and director on both installments, has been intermittently giving fans a behind-the-scenes look at what's to come. In July, he posted a picture on Instagram that production had officially begun. Then, in September, he shared that filming had officially concluded. "Well... that’s a wrap on #PartII See you on March 20th!" he wrote, which can be seen below.

Previously, the short clip had accompanied the recent release of the 2019 "Black Christmas" reboot at select locations, but now fans outside of a theater are able to begin seeing a bit of what's to come in the franchise.

As for the plot of the "Part 2," details have largely remained scarce. However, a newly-released image has hinted at the potential timeframe as Blunt's character is holding a baby. Those who watched the first will remember that Krasinski's character, Lee Abbott, died in the first film, leaving his wife, older children, and newborn baby behind. In turn, the photo seemingly signifies that the second film will pick up immediately after the first.

Earlier this year, the director spoke with Total Film magazine, reports Collider, and discussed where the story was headed. “I love the idea of the first one, that Emily and I as characters were all about surviving versus the thriving. All [my character] wanted to do was survive,” he said, adding, “And [her character] says, ‘That’s not enough. We have to thrive. We have to let these kids be whole human beings’. And after I’m gone, I’m loving seeing Emily really battle with that – that maybe survival was the way to go. And maybe this idea of thriving was too dangerous.”

"A Quiet Place: Part II" opens in theaters on March 20, 2020.
