They say the past can come back to haunt you and for Taylor Selfridge, that's exactly what happened.

On Tuesday, the "Teen Mom OG" star got canned by MTV. Not only did they cut ties with her but they replaced the TV special she had with Cory Wharton, which was supposed to air Tuesday night, with an episode of "Catfish." A spokesperson for the network explained the decision in a statement to HollywoodLife.

"MTV pulled 'Teen Mom OG At Home: Cory & Taylor’s Baby Special' from its Tuesday schedule and is ending our relationship with Taylor Selfridge in light of her past racist statements on social media," the statement said. "MTV strongly condemns systemic racism and stands with those raising their voices against injustice."

Despite the statement, Taylor told a different story. According to Us Weekly, the 25-year-old reality star explained on her now-private Instagram that she "made the decision last week to not film the next season of 'Teen Mom OG' with Cory for the benefit of myself and my daughter."

"I don’t believe the reality tv lifestyle benefits me any further at this point in my life," she wrote for her over 800,000 followers. "With current events being what they are and reality tv being selective in who they apply rules to or what is considered acceptable behavior, I do not have any further respect."

The New York Post recalled that Taylor has apologized multiple times for her actions, including during Season 8 of "Teen Mom," saying, "At the time, because I was younger, I wasn’t thinking it was anything negative. I thought 'Oh, this is funny' or something like that, but it’s not. This happened a long time ago."

Taylor is not the first public figure to be dropped and likely will not be the last. Earlier in the day on Tuesday, Bravo announced that they fired four of the stars on the hit show "Vanderpump Rules" after racists comments and behaviors from them were brought to light.

"Bravo and Evolution Media confirmed today that Stassi Schroeder, Kristen Doute, Max Boyens and Brett Caprioni will not be returning to Vanderpump Rules," Bravo said in a statement.
