Director Zack Snyder shared a series of photos on Twitter to announce that the filming of an upcoming sci-fi Netflix movie, "Rebel Moon," has started.

The 56-year-old director dropped three photos Tuesday, including a closeup of actor Djimon Hounsou, who plays General Titus in the movie. The actor can be seen wearing armor and patches of wounds and blood can be seen on his face.

In the second photo, the interior of a spaceship can be seen as production members stand outside. In the third photo, a glimpse of the production unit can be seen from the outside of that spaceship.

While the interior of the ship has detailed work done, the outside was made out of wood and covered with green color. "Day 1 #RebelMoon. It’s begun," Snyder captioned the post.

A fan noted in the comments section of the post that with this movie, Snyder will be giving a competition to the "Star Wars" franchise.

"When George Lucas created star wars it was cause he couldn't do Flash Gordon. When Zack Snyder created Rebel Moon it was cause he couldn't do Star Wars," another fan noted. "We're witnessing cinematic history. We're living it. Breathe it in."

Many more fans praised General Titus' armor in the photos.

Netflix Geeked's official handle announced the cast members of the movie on Feb. 10. Charlie Hunnam, Hounsou, Doona Bae, Ray Fisher, Sofia Boutella, Jena Malone, Staz Nair, E. Duffy, Charlotte Maggi and Sky Yang will be seen in the upcoming Netflix sci-fi adventure film.

"REBEL MOON is set in a peaceful colony on the edge of the galaxy that finds itself threatened by the armies of the tyrannical Regent Balisarius," Netflix explained the movie’s plot in a separate tweet. "Its only hope is a young woman with a mysterious past who seeks out warriors from neighboring planets to help them take a stand."

Besides "Rebel Moon," Snyder will also direct movies like "The Fountainhead" and "Planet of the Dead." The director has completed filming a TV series, "Army of the Dead: Lost Vegas," which is currently under post-production.
