A 20-year-old Kazuya Kinoshita is nursing his broken heart after getting dumped. “Rent-a-Girlfriend” or “Kanojo, Okarishimasu” is a romantic-comedy anime series premiering in the Summer 2020 anime season.

The anime is the official adaptation of Reiji Miyajima’s manga series “Rent-a-Girlfriend.” The official preview trailer opens with Kinoshita’s girlfriend announcing that she is breaking up with him.

Later, he meets Chizuru Mizuhara, who works as a rental girlfriend. “Rent-a-Girlfriend” Episode 1 revolves around Kinoshita’s breakup and how he uses an app to find love online. Mizuhara is described as an ideal girlfriend and she tells Kinoshita that she loves her job.

Kinoshita knows that he is not allowed to truly fall in love with Mizuhara. Will the fake love become real love in this romantic-comedy anime?

The cast of “Rent-a-Girlfriend” anime series includes Shun Horie as Kazuya Kinoshita, Sora Amamiya as Chizuru Mizuhara, Aoi Yuki as Mami Nanami, Masayuki Akasaka as Yoshiaki Kibe, Gakuto Kajiwara as Shun Kuribayashi, Yukari Nozawa as Nagomi Kinoshita, Nao Toyama as Ruka Sarashina and Rie Takahashi as Sumi Sakurasawa.

“Rent-a-Girlfriend” anime is directed by Kazuomi Koga. The background score of the anime is composed by Hyadain. Minoru Akiba is the art director and Shintaro Sakai is credited as the director of photography. Yumiko Nakaba is editing the series.

“Rent-a-Girlfriend” Episode 1 is scheduled to air Friday, July 10, on TBS in Japan. The makers are yet to announce the online streaming platform.
