  • "Resident Evil 3 Remake" producers said it will be very different from the original game
  • The Remake will focus more on the action instead of the horror
  • The Remake will also add more focus to the game's characters aside from Jill

Capcom's upcoming remake of the fan-favorite PlayStation 1-era survival horror classic, “Resident Evil 3,” is all the rage among many gamers at the moment. Interviews of the new game's producers, however, revealed that it's more than just a nostalgic trip to a very successful game.

In an interview with Famitsu (via Siliconera), “Resident Evil 3 Remake” producers Peter Fabiano and Masao Kawada said the upcoming title will feature more changes compared to the changes made in “Resident Evil 2 Remake.” These changes mean that those who played the original game in the late 90's can expect a totally new gaming experience with the Remake.

First, the “Resident Evil 3 Remake” will have many elements “changed” or “rearranged.” The producers didn't provide any specific details, leaving fans a lot of room for speculation. One thing is sure, though: it will be very different from the original title, even if it features the same characters like Jill, Carlos, and the fan-favorite terror known only as Nemesis.

Second, speaking of characters, the producers explained that because Jill is one of the series' most popular characters, they took extra care to ensure that “she retained her image even with the design change.” The design changes, the producers also explained, were made so that she would look more ready for action compared to how she looked like in the original title.

Those who can't stand seeing Jill wearing a tank top and a pair of pants, however, can still use her original costume, which will come as a bonus.

Third, Carlos has been redesigned to look more mature than ever before, but that's about it. The producers said he's “still a joker who speaks casually,” that that he's “just as hot-blooded as before.” Obviously, he's still the same guy, only cooler-looking. Carlos' original costume also comes as a bonus as well.

Fourth, the producers didn't reveal any gameplay footage during the interview, but said “Resident Evil 3 Remake” will feature more action compared to “Resident Evil 2 Remake,” which focused on the “horrific nature of zombies” and the annoyingly terrifying Tyrant known as Mr. X. Despite this, “Resident Evil 3 Remake” will still retain the elements that make “Resident Evil” what it is.

In a Q&A (via Resetera), Capcom also revealed a few more interesting details regarding “Resident Evil 3 Remake.” For one, Dario, the “truck guy” from “Resident Evil 3,” will have a bigger role this time. The Hunter Beta –deadly creatures resembling a mix between a human and a reptile– will also be in the game. IGN noted that these creatures appeared in the first “Resident Evil” game.
