In a separate post on the same day, Rickey also shared a three-year-old video of his son performing stand-up comedy on stage.

Rickey has four kids - Brandon, Aaryn, Malik and D'Essence. The tragic news of Brandon's passing comes two and a half years after the comedian's daughter, Aaryn was shot multiple times over the Fourth of July weekend in 2020.

The comedian shared details of the incident at that time, revealing that Aaryn was on her way to Whataburger in Houston to pick up food when she was suddenly and unintentionally shot. Aaryn went through an operation following the gun violence and survived.
