Rihanna has made her long-awaited return to music. The singer is the lead artist on the "Black Panther" sequel soundtrack, Marvel announced Wednesday.

The track, which will feature in "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever," which hits theaters Nov. 11, is called "Lift Me Up." Rihanna took to Twitter to tease the song and its release date, writing "Lift Me up 10.28.22."

Tems, a Nigerian singer-songwriter who co-wrote the song, shared it was a tribute to the life and legacy of Chadwich Boseman, and shared excitement that Rihanna was the one who would be singing it in a statement from the studio.

"I wanted to write something that portrays a warm embrace from all the people that I've lost in my life. I tried to imagine what it would feel like if I could sing to them now and express how much I miss them," Tems said. "Rihanna has been an inspiration to me so hearing her convey this song is a great honor."

Rihanna was a co-writer on the song as well. Ludwig Gransson and Ryan Coogler, the film's director, were also writers. The rest of the soundtrack is expected to be released on Nov. 4.

The song is Rihanna's first new song since the 2016 release of her album "Anti," which included tracks like "Desperado" and "Love on the Brain."

The new song also comes following the September announcement that Rihanna would perform at the Super Bowl Halftime Show in Arizona in February 2023.
