Members of Team Bughead, you won’t have to wait long to see some exciting Season 3 “Riverdale” episodes for Betty (Lili Reinhart) and Jughead (Cole Sprouse). The Serpent king and his queen will be spending plenty of time together as they look into the town’s new mystery, according to Reinhart.

While Veronica (Camila Mendes) is busy with her speakeasy and with trying to get Archie (K.J. Apa) out of juvie, Betty and Jug “take on the mystery of the Gargoyle King together,” the 22-year-old actress told International Business Times at New York Comic Con. She explained that although the sleuthing duo’s worried about Archie, too, they “feel like they’ve exhausted their sources” and think their skills are better suited for solving the Gargoyle mystery instead.

Reinhart revealed that in episode 2 or 3 of this season of “Riverdale,” Bughead will be diving deep into their investigation. “Those two episodes are really good with the two of them being their investigative, sleuthing duo,” she told IBT. “So, that was fun to do. They go on a little adventure there.”

Adventuring and solving these real-life puzzles are important to Betty because she wants to discover the answers to things on her own, instead of having to rely on others to find them for her. Part of that is because of “the distrust that she has with the adults,” Reinhart told reporters at NYCC, but another part of it is because she knows what she’s capable of.

“Especially after Season 1, I think she’s kind of like, if she wants the answers, she’s gonna have to go get them,” the actress explained. “She’s gonna have to take matters into her own hands, which I love about her. So, I think she kind of just — she doesn’t take answers sitting down. She goes and questions them and finds her own reasoning, and she really just kind of takes charge and solves it on her own.”

She continued: “That’s how she always ends up in the middle of these things. Because she digs sometimes a little too deep and that definitely happens this season, as well. She gets herself into a bad situation by sleuthing around the wrong things and pissing off the wrong [people].”

“Riverdale” Season 3 airs on The CW on Wednesdays at 8 p.m. EDT.
