Robert Pattinson has opened up about what he went through while shooting for "The Batman."

Even though he was all suited up to be a superhero, he felt really alone during the shoot, the 35-year-old actor told GQ.

The movie, which is set to release on March 4 this year, began shooting in 2019, and it kicked off with the star injuring himself. "I broke my wrist at the beginning of it all, doing a stunt, even before COVID," Pattinson said. "So the whole first section was trying to keep working out -- looking like a penguin. I remember when that seemed like the worst thing that could go wrong."

Then, the pandemic set in, and the "Twilight" star tested positive in September 2020. Eventually, filming began again, leading to an 18-month-long shoot, but it was an experience that made Pattinson feel alienated.

"The nature of the shoot was so kind of insular, always shooting at night, just really dark all the time, and I felt very much alone," he recalled. "Even just being in the suit all the time. You’re not really allowed out of the studio with the suit on, so I barely knew what was going on at all outside."

But, despite feeling alienated, the "Harry Potter" alum had something he could count on, especially with so much going on around him.

"I just always had this anchor of Batman. Rather than thinking you’re flotsam to the news, you could feel engaged without being paralyzed by it. Everyone I know, if you had a little momentum going in your career or your life, then stopping, you had to have a reckoning with yourself," he explained.

"Whereas I was so incredibly busy the whole time, doing something that was also super high pressure, by far the hardest thing I’ve ever done... I was still playing Batman at the end of the day, even though the world might end," Pattinson continued. "... Even if the world burns down, I’ve just got to get this f**king thing out!"

Finally, the shooting was wrapped up in April 2021, but it had taken such a toll on Pattinson, that he was "was really, really, really dead afterward."

"I just looked at a photo of myself from April and I looked green," he said.

Now that the movie is just days away from its release, Pattinson is a bit nervous. "It all depends. If people like the movie, it’s great. All of it," but, he said, "You never really know until it happens."
