  • They continued to date on and off for years before calling it quits for good in 2019

Ivana Trump remained friends with her late ex-husband, Italian actor and model Rossano Rubicondi, long after their divorce, and she was left "devastated" when he died this week.

The businesswoman and TV personality confirmed her ex-husband's death to People Saturday after Rubicondi's friend and Italian TV personality Simona Ventura announced his passing on Twitter Friday.

Here are some facts about and key highlights of Trump's relationship with Rubicondi.

She was 21 years his senior

Trump was born on Feb. 20, 1949, while Rubicondi was born on March 14, 1972. The actor was 49 when he died. Trump is 72.

He was her fourth husband

Trump was previously married to Austrian skier Alfred Winklmayr from 1971 to 1973, former President Donald Trump from 1977 to 1992, and Italian entrepreneur Riccardo Mazzucchelli from 1995 to 1997.

She married Rubicondi on April 12, 2008, when she was 59 and he was 36, after dating for six years.

Their nuptials were hosted by Donald Trump

The former model and Rubicondi's $3 million wedding took place at the former president's Mar-A-Lago resort in Palm Beach, Florida, with their daughter Ivanka Trump serving as her maid of honor.

They separated only a few months into their marriage

Trump filed a legal separation agreement in September 2008 but only announced it three months later. She explained at the time that she kept quiet about it because she didn't want to ruin Rubicondi's chances as a contestant on the Italian celebrity version of "Survivor."

Trump blamed the split on them wanting to live in different cities, explaining that Rubicondi wanted to live in Miami and work in Milan while she chose to stay in New York, where all her family, friends and businesses were based.

"It's not a 24-7 marriage, but we're both enjoying it!" she told People in 2009.

They divorced less than a year after tying the knot

Trump filed for divorce from Rubicondi in 2009 and finalized the split two years later.

However, they rekindled their romance shortly after and kept up an on-and-off relationship for years, even dancing together on the Italian version of "Dancing with the Stars" in 2018.

The two called it quits for good in 2019, with Trump telling Page Six at the time that "the relationship just ran its course."

"Rossano spends a lot of time in Italy and I spend a lot of time in New York, Miami and St-Tropez, and he has to work. The long-distance relationship really doesn't work. We had a good time and are friends. The split was amicable," she said.

He could be her last husband

Following her split from Rubicondi in 2019, Trump told Page Six she does not plan to marry again and was "done" with both marriage and dating.

According to Trump, she's content with having her three children and her grandchildren. In addition to Ivanka, she shares sons Donald Jr. and Eric with the former president.

"I just want to be free and go where I want to go with whoever I want. I want to be a free woman," she explained. "I don’t want to date. I like to have companions, and I have plenty of men who take me for lunches and dinners and balls or charity events. I don’t want to be attached."

He was not a fan of her children

While he remained friends with Trump after their split, Rubicondi did not have a good opinion of her children.

He told Page Six in 2019 that he had "good respect" for the matriarch but didn't have a good relationship with Trump's children during their romance.

"In regard to the rest of the family, I am not [a] big a fan of it. They have been rude to me," he told the outlet. "No one touched a dollar or dime from their family . . . I don’t know [if that’s why they didn’t like me], but these people are all about money. They don’t have a heart. They are garbage."

They continued to spend time together following their split

Trump and Rubicondi were spotted together in public as recently as July. In photos obtained by the Daily Mail, she held on to her former husband's arm as they enjoyed an evening stroll through New York City.
