President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama hosted a big state dinner for the British Prime Minister David Cameron and his wife Samantha, Wednesday night at the White House.

Among the 300-plus guests who showed up at the state dinner were George Clooney, Warren Buffett, Richard Branson and other well-known personalities, ABC News said. However, the highlight of the night was hostess Michelle Obama who donned an elegant off-shoulder teal silk dress.

Michele Obama's stunning creation comes from the American fashion house Marchesa and was designed by British designer Georgina Chapman who was also one of the guests at the backyard-themed bash. The First Lady emphasized her look with a bold necklace that was an elaborate mix of blue beads.

Samantha Cameron, often considered a fashionista herself, wore a similarly hued dress by London-based Italian designer Alessandra Rich. Looking absolutely chic in the patterned lace gown, she complimented it with a belt and a pair of black heels.

President Obama was more than impressed as he commented, Very pretty. After which, he was overheard saying to Michelle about the Camerons: They look better than us.

Both the ladies had previously caused a stir with their high-fashion display at a mini-Olympics event that they attended at the American University on Tuesday.
