2014 Premiere invitation
The Samsung Galaxy Premiere 2014 press invite Samsung Tomorrow

Samsung Galaxy Premiere 2014 takes place Thursday, and Samsung Electronics Co. (KRX:005930) has teased that new tablets in the Galaxy Tab line may be unveiled.

We'll find out what Samsung has in store as the New York City event begins at 7 p.m. EDT. The live stream will be available on Samsung Mobile’s official YouTube channel, but you can also watch the action right here.

A tablet line dubbed "Galaxy Tab S" surfaced in numerous rumors prior to the news event. Three models of the tablet were spotted in May in filings at the FCC website indicating that the device may be available in 8.4-inch, 10.5-inch and 12.2-inch versions.

Samsung’s press invites for the Premiere event also tease “Tab Into Color,” which many believe indicates the tablets will feature high-resolution AMOLED displays. The Galaxy Tab S is expected to introduce the WQXGA (2560 x 1600 pixel) Super AMOLED display to the market.

Proposed specifications for the Galaxy Tab S tablets include 2560×1600 resolution displays, an octa-core Samsung Exynos 5420 chipset, an 8-megapixel rear camera and a 2.1-megapixel front-facing camera. Sensors and connectivity may include Wi-Fi a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.0 LE, GPS/GLONASS, LTE and an infrared (IR) blaster. The tablets should run Android 4.4 KitKat with Samsung’s Magazine UX, a customizable user interface designed by Samsung that runs on the home screen to give users direct access to content with a single touch. As per leaked photos, the tablets may resemble the Samsung Galaxy S5 in exterior design and may also feature a fingerprint scanner.

There's little word on whether any other devices will be unveiled at the Samsung Galaxy Premiere 2014. Several Samsung Galaxy smartphones were unveiled at last year’s Premiere event in addition to several Samsung ATIV tablets and notebooks and the Samsung Galaxy NX, an Android-powered camera that is styled like a digital single-lens reflex camera, or DSLR, and has a big 4.8-inch touchscreen LCD on the back.
