  • Samsung's latest smartphone, the Galaxy S20 FE, is here
  • Consumers can get Samsung's new offering for $100 less than the $700 original price via Best Buy
  • It offers a lot of features normally found in flagship handsets

Samsung's newest handset, the Galaxy S20 FE, is here. And while the device has not yet spent a lot of time on store shelves, a retailer is already selling it for less than the original launch price.

Buyers will be able to get Samsung's new smartphone for $100 less via Best Buy, CNet reported. The retailer is selling an unlocked version of the Galaxy S20 FE 5G with 128GB of storage for only $599.99, provided that the buyer will choose the Activate Later option when purchasing. This offer is a lot cheaper than the $700 launch price the South Korean company placed on the device.

Those who choose the Activate Now option will get it for even less than that, CNet noted. Buyers can get it for $549.99 with a new line or account at Verizon or as low as $499.99 with Sprint.

Consumers who are looking for a new smartphone but do not want or cannot afford to spend a lot of money on a top-tier Android device may find the new Samsung Galaxy S20 FE even more tempting due to these discounts. Potential buyers should keep in mind, however, that they might end up having to pay higher monthly fees for a longer period of time.

Why buy the device?

Regardless of where buyers choose to get the device, it's a fact that the new Samsung Galaxy S20 FE is a good smartphone packed with features that allow it to compete with some flagships currently available in the market.

First, the U.S. version is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 SoC, which powers other flagships in the market. This chipset is backed by 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage, which is expandable up to 1TB.

Second, it has a 6.5-inch AMOLED display that can be set to offer FHD+ resolution only but with 120Hz refresh rate or WQHD+ resolution but with a slower refresh rate, TechRadar noted.

Third, it offers a decent rear camera setup comprised of a 12MP main sensor, 12MP ultra-wide sensor and an 8MP telephoto sensor. It also has a 32MP selfie camera housed in a hole punch at the top center of the display.

The new Samsung Galaxy S20 FE might not be as “affordable” as other cheaper smartphones, but it does offer some specs and features that allow it to compete with better devices.
