The Samsung Galaxy S9 is expected to pack some whole new features, more color options and a faster processor, which is why it’s not going to be cheap. The upcoming flagship Android phone may be the most expensive phone in the Galaxy S line as it’s rumored to cost around $100 more than the Galaxy S8.

For those who may have already forgotten, the Galaxy S8 arrived with a $750 price tag, while the Galaxy S8+ sold for $850.

“You can expect the S9 to cost £100 more than the Galaxy S8 when it was released last year,” an anonymous source told TechRadar. “The truth is that last year's massively inflated smartphone prices on handsets like the S8, Note 8 and iPhone X have shown that there are plenty of people out there willing to pay these higher prices.”

Phone Arena was also able to corroborate the information through a “source in the U.K. mobile phone deals industry.” Given that way how British pounds and US dollars are translated in pricing Samsung products, the Galaxy S9 may arrive later this month with a whopping US$850 price tag.

If Samsung follows its pricing for the Galaxy S8 and S8+, the Galaxy S9+ may start at US$950, or even more. The S9+ is expected to come with a dual-camera setup and a larger display, so the higher price seems to be justified. Although the “Plus” model is getting dual cameras, both handsets are expected to come with variable aperture lenses.

If this turns out to be true, then Samsung fans better start saving up if they plan on buying the Galaxy S9. That being said, Samsung typically lets carriers and retailers announce their own pricing for their phones, but people shouldn’t expect it to be too far off from the company’s official pricing.

Samsung is expected to launch the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ on Feb. 25, just a day before MWC 2018 kicks off in Barcelona, Spain. The handsets may be available to pre-order sometime soon after its official reveal and could be available to purchase in stores sometime in mid-March.

In other Galaxy S9 news, notorious leaker Evan Blass (@evleaks) shared an image of the upcoming handset with a new “lilac purple” color option. He also revealed that the Galaxy S9 will be available in coral blue, titanium gray and midnight black. Samsung will also be introducing special or limited edition finishes for the Galaxy S9 at a later date.
