Sarah Ferguson was once charged a huge sum of money following her tour of the United States with Prince Andrew.

In the book “The Royals,” author Kitty Kelley revealed that Ferguson had such a wonderful time in the US because she felt loved by the Americans. The Duchess of York also believed that she was an American in her past life.

But before going back to London, Ferguson enjoyed some retail therapy in New York City. During her return trip, the airline charged her $1,200 for 51 pieces of excess baggage.

In another trip to the US, Ferguson shared her love for British brands when she joked that her underwear was from Marks & Spencer. Ferguson’s former best friend Princess Diana also revealed her wardrobe habits while on a royal tour.

During her trip to Australia with Prince Charles in 1983, Kelley said that the Princess of Wales knew that style was very important for a princess so became determined to be the best-dressed Princess of Wales in history.

“She would show substance beneath the surface later, right now all she cared about was creating a lip-smacking first impression. She consulted fashion editors and designers… She let them know that she intended to bring style and glamor to her role and distance herself from the rest of the Windsor women in their white purses, garden party hats, and sturdy platform shoes,” Kelley wrote.

Ferguson and Princess Diana used to be so close. But when the latter died, the two female Royals were no longer on speaking terms. Years earlier, they had a falling out, which Ferguson detailed in her biography.

After Princess Diana’s death, Ferguson said that she missed her former best friend while at Princess Eugenie’s wedding. While speaking with Daily Mail, Ferguson said that Princess Diana is always with her and the one thing she misses most about Prince William and Prince Harry’s mom is her laughter.
