Hollywood can be a dark place for celebrities sometimes. An actor has to adapt to stay relevant in the industry. But most of the time, it is the female actors who have to constantly change themselves to get roles in movies.

Scarlett Johansson, one of the highest-paid actors in the world, has been a part of many big projects and she is considered to be one of the greatest actors of this generation. However, if you feel that it is always easy for her to get roles, then you might want to think about that again.

Johansson has opened up about how Hollywood is constantly telling the actors to remain “thin” if they want to stay relevant in the industry. The 35-year-old actress reportedly thinks that all the Hollywood A-listers are now under more pressure than ever to look “thin” and glamorous all the time.

Speaking in an interview with Candis Magazine, the “Jojo Rabbit” star revealed that there is always a huge pressure on actors to stay thin. She also insisted that putting pressure on the actors is not something new.

“There has always been pressure on actors to stay thin. There is a scene in one of my favorite movies, 'All About Eve', where Bette Davis is circling around the room, horribly upset about something, and she picks up chocolate, puts it down, picks it up again, puts it down again. Finally, she gives in and eats it, but only after a huge struggle! So even back then, there was the pressure going on. And now, it's much worse,” Johansson said.

Her comments come a few days after Rebel Wilson made some controversial remarks regarding her weight. In an interview with The Sun, Wilson explained that she was given a lot of money to stay bigger during her professional career. The actress, who portrayed the character of Fat Amy in the “Pitch Perfect” film series, noted that attitude in the film industry can "mess with your head a bit.”

“It is more than that, it's about dealing mentally with why I was overeating and I had a job where I was paid a lot of money to be bigger, at times which kind of can mess with your head a bit,” Wilson said.

Later in the interview, Johansson shared that she sticks to a “natural” diet and likes to look “slim” but “healthy.”

On the professional front, she will be next seen in Marvel’s “Black Widow.” The cast also includes Florence Pugh, Rachel Weisz, and David Harbour in pivotal roles.

“Black Widow” is scheduled to hit theaters on Nov. 6, 2020.
