Puerto Rico has suffered its second earthquake in the span of two days.

A 6.5 magnitude earthquake rocked the island early Tuesday and was first felt at 3:24 a.m., around 10 kilometers south of Indios, said CNN, citing a report from the United States Geological Service (USGS).

The latest quake came a day after a 5.8 magnitude tremor was reported 8 miles south-southeast of Indios early Monday, said CNN in a separate article.

Puerto Rico Governor Wanda Vazquez Garced took to Twitter and assured her constituents that the government “is active and in action.”

She also urged the people to remain calm while at the same time, reminded them to be safe.

No tsunami warning has been issued by the US National Tsunami Warning Center, added CNN.

The USGS also said Monday that more earthquakes will occur near the mainshock, and that the chances of a stronger quake will be “greater.”

Homes in Guanica sustained damage, while a house in Guayanilla collapsed during Monday's quake.

Reports of rock slides along Route 2 were also reported, said Puerto Rico Emergency Management Director Carlos Acevedo.
