Selena Gomez has opened up about her struggles with depression and anxiety. The singer shared that it was one of the scariest moments of her life since she was suffering both mentally and emotionally.

While attending the annual dinner at McLean Hospital, the “Good For You” hitmaker revealed that 2018 was really tough for her because she felt her pains and anxiety washed over her all at once.

According to Elle, Gomez also admitted that it was tough for her to keep a smile on her face and make things look absolutely fine because of her condition.

“Last year, I was suffering mentally and emotionally, and I wasn’t able to stay all kept and together. And it felt like all of my pain and anxiety washed over me all at once, and it was one of the scariest moments of my life,” Gomez said.

The “Wolves” hitmaker noted that she got help from the professionals to know exactly about her condition and felt relieved and terrified at the same time when she got to know the reason for all the hardships she went through due to depression and anxiety.

Last year, in an interview with Teen Vogue, Gomez revealed that she checked herself into a facility and took part in various forms of therapy with a small group of women. The musician ended up staying there for 90 days and later admitted that it was one of the hardest things she has done in her entire life.

The 27-year-old artist is now one of the few celebrities who consistently talk about mental health and its consequences on the human body. She feels that her time in the facility was an eye-opener for her since she got to learn a lot about mental health during her stay.

Gomez also expressed her gratitude toward all the people who helped her in becoming healthier and happier. “I am just fortunate enough to be able to work with some of the greatest doctors and psychiatrists,” Gomez said.

The “Can’t Get Enough” hitmaker ended her speech by saying that her battle with mental health is far from over, but she now has all the resources and the knowledge to aid her.

In 2016, Gomez shocked her fans when she abruptly canceled the second half of the “Revival” tour to seek treatment for anxiety and depression. She admitted that she started to have panic attacks before going out to the stage for her performance while touring.

The singer confessed that she was not able to give her fans what they needed and that forced her to cancel the remainder of her tour to get herself treated.
