Shailene Woodley is a professional actor, but also an avid activist in her free time. Her latest endeavor: convincing fans why the upcoming U.S. presidential election is so important.

The actress, best known for roles in HBO’s “Big Little Lies,” “The Divergent Series” and Freeform’s 2008 drama “The Secret Life of the American Teenager,” posted a long explanation to her Instagram on Sunday as to why she is endorsing Senator Bernie Sanders.

“What are the questions we’re not asking one another,” Woodley wrote. “Democrat or republican, who are you pointing the finger at. And who do you feel is pointing the finger at you? At the end of the day, what are the needs you have that aren’t being met.”

Not only is Woodley “feelin’ the strong strong BERRRNNNN,” but she also began her post by responding to a comment a “close friend” made to her concerning taxes, asking how she can be happy giving away her “hard-earned money” to the government.

“If it means that me, a 28-year-old woman who is more financially secure than 99% of our nation would be taxed in the name of ensuring my ENTIRE family have affordable/well off health care (amongst so much more) then YES,” she wrote. “There is NO QUESTION.”

Woodley accompanied the caption with a screenshot of a news announcement that Sanders won the Nevada caucus.

“We are conditioned to live in a world of fear and separation,” she wrote. “Dog eat dog. Hierarchy. Tough luck. [Expletive] that.”

She went on to explain that in order for real change to happen she believes the country needs to “come together” and for everyone to start thinking beyond their own individual needs. She also encouraged fans to get out of their “bubbles” and start asking questions.

It’s not the first time Woodley has been so open about her political thoughts. In 2016, she took a live video of her arrest while protesting the placement of the Dakota Access Pipeline in North Dakota, The Guardian reported.

As press time, Woodley's Instagram post about Sanders had received over 74,000 likes.
