• Fans have long been waiting for EA and Maxis to announce "The Sims 5"
  • Neither EA nor Maxis said anything related to the highly anticipated game installment
  • It was confirmed in April 2021 that next generation of "The Sims" game is underway

It has been almost eight years since "The Sims 4" was released and fans are wondering if the highly anticipated series installment will finally launch this year. Apart from that, it appears that Maxis and Electronic Arts are preparing to release another game pack for "The Sims 4" based on the information of the game's roadmap.

It was in April 2021 when EA's Chief Studio Officer Laura Miele confirmed that "the next generation" of "The Sims" is well underway. However, official news about the most awaited game installment went radio silent after that.

In December 2021, "The Sims" reported that a number of gamers are enjoying "The Sims 4" and claimed players have spent 1.2 billion hours playing it and 146 million hours in Create a Sim Mode.

Since its release, "The Sims 4" received 11 expansion packs, 10 game packs, 18 stuff packs and nine kits as additional content and thousands of new mods. With the number of players still enjoying the game and the plethora of mods and downloadable content released to the current game installment, it looks like EA and Maxis are still banking on the success of "The Sims 4."

Releasing a new game could eclipse the success of the current game, which is not a good call business-wise. In the absence of an official announcement from EA and Maxis, it is safe to say the team might not yet roll out the most awaited "The Sims 5" while it still has a list of "The Sims 4" contents to launch.

Meanwhile, the game developer recently shared the roadmap of "The Sims 4" content scheduled to launch in 2022. Titled "Simthing to Celebrate," it features a new Game Pack that throws a Party for Love, two Vibrant Kits that celebrate Fierce Design, the Gift of unique Community Collaborations in-game and out and a free Global Food Items to Bring Sims Together.

One of the texts written in the roadmap announcement mentioned "a game pack that throws a party for love" with images of couple rings and wedding cakes are in the background. This seemingly hints at the possibility that the game pack centers on weddings.

The game developers already confirmed that these contents will cover the first three months of the year. So, fans can expect the supposed wedding game pack to be in sometime in March 2022.
