  • Activision has not yet officially announced the next 'Call of Duty' franchise installment
  • The game publisher released 'Call of Duty: Vanguard' in November 2021
  • It is believed that Infinity Ward will handle the development of 'Call of Duty 2022'

"Call of Duty: Vanguard" was released a few weeks ago but leaks about the next "Call of Duty" game installment have surfaced online with the latest claiming that "Call of Duty 2022" will feature four maps from the highly anticipated "Modern Warfare 2" Multiplayer.

The latest information about "Call of Duty 2022" came from an industry insider who goes by the name ModernWarzone. He has accurately provided information about "Call of Duty" and "battlefield" games in the past. In a recent tweet, the insider shared the names of the rumored maps coming to the next "Call of Duty" game installment.

The rumored maps include Favela, Terminal, High Rise and Quarry. Favela is a medium-sized map that was initially planned to launch on "Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare." It is a multi-tiered map set somewhere in Rio de Janeiro in Brazil.

Another map high Rise is a well-known location set on top of an almost completed skyscraper. The Terminal is a popular medium-sized map set in an airport terminal while the next map, Quarry is set in Brazil and takes place in a quarry.

Unfortunately, this is where the leak stopped and there is no way to verify the veracity of this information. Activision has not yet said anything about the leak and it has not yet formally announced the next "Call of Duty" game installment.

It is believed that Infinity Ward will handle the development of "Call of Duty 2022" but the game developer is also mum about anything related to the next "CoD" title. Earlier rumors claimed that the upcoming game will serve as the sequel of "Modern Warfare 2."

Industry insider Tom Henderson even claimed recently that some of the elements and features initially planned for the "Modern Warfare 2" Multiplayer Remake will be incorporated in "Call of Duty 2022."

However, in the absence of an official confirmation from Activision and Infinity Ward, it is wise for fans to take these leaks about "Call of Duty 2022" as highly speculative at this stage. Meanwhile, "Call of Duty: Vanguard" is now available on various gaming platforms. It was released in November 2021.

Fans can enjoy the 18th installment in the "Call of Duty" game franchise on Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S.
