  • PS5 is set to arrive on November 12
  • PlayStation accidentally leaked a major PS5 feature
  • Sony later confirmed and offered some details about the upcoming PS5 feature

PlayStation has accidentally confirmed that the long-awaited feature that hardcore PS fans have been requesting is coming to PS5.

The information was leaked by the French arm of PlayStation. In a blog, it revealed that the PS5 would add trophy progress. Unfortunately, the blog did not offer many details about the feature, but it mentioned that it would be able to track the progress of earning individual trophies.

The new PS5 feature would make it easier for players to keep track of a certain amount of collectibles, wins, or kills, particularly if there is uncertainty on how much work is needed on the player’s part. This detail was not however, included in the English PlayStation blog but available in the French version.

Sony released this picture on June 11 of its upcoming PlayStation 5 console, without revealing pricing or a launch date. Sony Interactive Entertainment Inc.

Thanks to Google Translate, the French version reads, "On PlayStation 5, you will be able to track your progress towards earning individual trophies for compatible PS5 games. For example, sometimes you'll see how many artifacts you have left to collect, or how many armor upgrades you need to get before unlocking the Trophy." Interestingly, it seems that this feature will not be retroactively applied to PS4 Trophies.

This new PS5 feature comes along with the revamped progression system to PlayStation Trophies that Sony mentioned earlier including the increase in the level cap from 100 to 999. The Player’s trophy progress will adjust once the new update launches. PS5 users should also look forward to changes in the values of every trophy earned when leveling up.

Essentially, all trophies will be worth much more than it did in the past. This could mean making platinum trophies could be worth the while. As soon as PlayStation France shared this, it deleted the paragraph. The action suggests that it has spilled the beans ahead of its scheduled official announcement.

Following this incident, PlayStation sent out emails providing details on the general updates. At the bottom part, the Japanese gaming giant mentioned the PS5 Trophy Progress Tracking. PlayStation says, "Just how close are you to earning that rare Gold Trophy? See what else you need to do before hearing that highly satisfying ‘ding’ sound with the all-new Trophy tracking system in supported games on the PS5™ console."
