Sony will be attending IFA 2017 in Berlin and is expected to reveal the new Xperia XZ1. Now, renders for the XZ1 have surfaced online showing that it will look very much like other Xperia XZ phones.

The renders for the Sony Xperia XZ1 were shared online by CompareRaja and Steve Hemmerstoffer (@OnLeaks on Twitter). The overall design of the XZ1 is pretty similar to the Xperia XZ and XZs. There are still large bezels, and build materials are still metal and glass. Based on these renders, Sony is once again going for a minimalistic and elegant design.

The only real major difference here is the back of the XZ1. Like the XZ Premium, the camera sensors and flash are now horizontally positioned. However, the sensors and the flash are now centered instead of simply sitting right next to the camera module itself.

Slash Leaks also recently shared live images of the XZ1’s metal back panel showing the large hole for the camera’s sensors and flash. With the renders and the leaked images of the back panel appearing to be a match, it’s now highly likely that this design is accurate.

Most of Sony’s Xperia Android phones look the same, so it’s not really all too surprising for the the XZ1 to look like this. However, the redesigned module for the camera’s sensors and the flash is intriguing. Perhaps Sony has added a new set of camera features for the XZ1 to set itself apart from the other Xperia XZ phones.

The renders also confirm that the Xperia XZ1 will come with a 3.5mm headphone jack on the top, while the USB Type-C port is located at the bottom. The power button, volume rocker and the dedicated camera shutter button are all located on the right side of the device. The left side of the device appears to only have a SIM card slot, which may also be a hybrid microSD/SIM tray, as speculated by Phone Arena.

The specs for the Xperia XZ1 haven’t been confirmed by Sony yet, but previous leaks have given everyone a general idea of what to expect from the device. The XZ1 is said to come with a 5.2-inch display, but screen resolution hasn’t been discovered yet.

Under the hood, the Xperia XZ1 is believed to be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 processor, along with 4GB of RAM and a 3,000mAh battery. Previous benchmark results suggest that the device might come with 64GB of internal storage, as pointed out by Android Headlines.

The rear-facing camera is believed to come with a 19-megapixel sensor, while the front-facing camera will come with a 12-megapixel sensor. The Xperia XZ1 is also expected to be one of the first handsets to arrive with Android O straight out of the box.

Sony hasn’t confirmed anything related to the Xperia XZ1, but the company is expected to be in attendance during IFA Berlin 2017. The company might officially unveil the XZ1 alongside other rumored Xperia devices on Aug. 31 in Berlin, just a day before IFA 2017 officially kicks off.
