Could a sixth title for the “Soulcalibur” franchise be in the works? Bandai Namco just released the game’s “20th Anniversary” trailer, and it is somehow suggesting that fans may not have seen the last of the famous weapon-based fighting series yet.

On Tuesday, Bandai Namco took to its official YouTube channel to upload the “Soulcalibur 20th Anniversary” trailer that features footage from the official titles in the Soul series. The trailer begins by showcasing footage from its original first installment, entitled “Soul Edge,” which was released in 1996. Then, it introduces its first “SoulCalibur” title that arrived in 1998. This was followed by “Soulcalibur II” in 2002, “Soulcalibur III” in 2005, “Soulcalibur IV” in 2008 and “Soulcalibur V” in 2012.

There are also other installments in the series that were actually not part of the numbered titles. In 2007, Bandai Namco launched “Soulcalibur: Legends.” In 2009, “Soulcalibur: Broken Destiny” was released. Then, in 2014, “Soulcalibur: Lost Swords” came. It’s been two years since a “Soulcalibur” game was released and it’s been four years since the fifth title in the series was launched.

Going back to the trailer, it ends with a slogan that reads “The Legend Will Never Die” shown underneath what appears to be a logo for “20th Anniversary Soulcalibur.” Could these be signs that Bandai Namco is working on another installment for the die-hard fans of the series?

According to DualShockers, it isn’t really clear if the new trailer serves as a teaser for a new title. Even the “Project Soul” website that was launched this week does not contain details on possible future titles. It simply features the previous games in the series and some messages from developers.

“Soul Edge” was released exactly on Dec. 20. If Bandai Namco is basing its 20th anniversary from the official launch of that game, then fans should wait until Tuesday of the week following next week for a clear sign or an announcement of a new addition to the franchise.
