Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) is expected to return as a Force Ghost in “Star Wars: Episode 9.” But will this be enough to satisfy the fans who were disappointed with the character’s death in the sequel?

Force Ghosts were originally used as guides to help the next generation find their way during a seemingly unwinnable fight. Yoda changed that in “The Last Jedi.” Now, the franchise has further established that these spirits can do more than just appear in front of a person; they can make changes to the physical world.

The new book from the franchise titled “The Secrets Of The Jedi” revealed that Force Ghosts can “interact with the physical world,” Screen Rant reported. The book is written from Luke Skywalker’s perspective, and it attempts to give a more accurate picture of the Jedi Order’s history to correct the glorified version that is taught in the history books of the fictitious galaxy.

What is also noteworthy in the new book is that it reveals Luke was in touch with the Force Ghosts of his father Anakin (Hayden Christensen), who later became Darth Vader, and Obi-Wan Kenobi (Ewan McGregor). This means that there is a chance these characters will be back in “Star Wars: Episode 9.”

The upcoming film is expected to connect all the nine movies, and there have been many theories about how director JJ Abrams is going to do this. According to Screen Rant, Abrams will help establish the role of Force Ghosts in the movie, and this could also be used as a tool to connect all the previous movies.

What should be exciting for fans is that there is a good chance that Darth Vader will return as a Force Ghost in “Star Wars: Episode 9,” Screen Rant reported. The character is deeply connected to his grandson Kylo Ren (Adam Driver), and the former Sith Lord may also play a role in guiding Rey (Daisy Ridley) in becoming a Jedi Master.
