The Super Bowl 2024 date and location were made official well in advance, even before the start of the 2022 season. Also known as Super Bowl LVIII, the next NFL championship game will be played in a stadium that will host the nation's biggest sporting event for the first time.

Super Bowl 2024 is scheduled to take place on Sunday, Feb. 11 of next year at Allegiant Stadium in Paradise, Nevada. CBS will have the TV broadcast from the home of the Las Vegas Raiders. Announcers Jim Nantz and Tony Romo are expected to be on the call.

It marks the first time that the Super Bowl will be held in the Las Vegas area. The Raiders' home stadium was never the Super Bowl location when the team played in Oakland or Los Angeles.

The Super Bowl 2024 location was initially supposed to be Caesars Superdome in New Orleans. The league was forced to move the game because it conflicted with Mardi Gras.

Allegiant Stadium opened in September 2020 for a Raiders' game, though no fans were in attendance because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The stadium has a capacity to hold 65,000 fans.

The Raiders haven't been to the Super Bowl in two decades. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Los Angeles Rams became the only teams to play the Super Bowl in their home stadium in 2021 and 2022, respectively. Tampa Bay played in front of a limited capacity crowd because of the pandemic.

The Super Bowl 2024 date is the third-latest in the year that the game will take place. The latest Super Bowl was the contest between the Rams and Cincinnati Bengals on Feb. 13, 2022.

The Super Bowl was first played in February in 2002. The league pushed back the entire schedule, including the Super Bowl, by a week, following the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.

With the exception of Super Bowl 2021 between the Buccaneers and Chiefs, most of the recent games have been very competitive. From 2015-2020, every Super Bowl was a one-score game with four minutes left in regulation.
