Jared Padalecki, who plays the younger Winchester brother on the hit drama, explained that the Season 10 premiere will immediately deal with Dean’s new, dark predicament. For those who don’t know, Dean was killed in the Season 9 finale, stabbed to death by Metatron. Now, we’ve seen our fair share of dead Winchesters, but watching Dean get beaten to a pulp and then pierced with a sword was almost too much for us to handle.

After Dean was stabbed, Sam ran over to his big brother, who was lifelessly propped up against a wall, bloodied and battered. The siblings spoke their final words as Sam held Dean in his arms.

“I’m proud of us,” Dean confessed before slipping away. But Dean didn’t stay dead for long. Shortly after his passing fans saw the supernatural hunter awake – with big, black eyes. Yep, Dean’s now a demon.

"The final 30 seconds of the finale ... certainly sets up what's going to happen with Season 10," Padalecki told Zap2it.

In all honesty, we kind of wished Dean had died. Sounds heretical but... we’ve been watching Sam and Dean’s tumultuous relationship persist for some time now and it felt like we’d never see them get out of that funk – until Dean’s death. The boys made up as Dean lay there dying, ending their feud with sweet, loving words.

Padalecki confessed he was happy to see that his character and Dean were back in a good place.

"It's nice. Being a father of boys and being a brother myself, I, Jared, don't love it when the brothers fight and when they're not on the same page," he said. "Sam sees Dean in this situation that Sam was in Season 4, so he's saying to his brother, 'Buddy, you had to help me off the edge five years ago and now you're doing the same thing. Open your eyes!' But that's something I understand. I know what it feels like to love somebody, a family member, and go, 'Listen, man, push through.' I've been there. I get it. It's kind of like what Dean said to Sam at the end of last season. 'Listen, there are other ways to do this, get off the ledge.' It's nice to play that."

But things will take a turn for the worse in Season 10 when Sam realizes his brother has turned into a dark, menacing creature. Seriously, just when things between the siblings started improving good, has to go and transform Dean into a demon. Go figure!

How will Sam react when he realizes Dean has turned into a creature he detests? Looks like we’ll have to stay tuned to find out! But Padalecki did give fans a hint of how he would respond to the dilemma.

"I love the guy,” he admitted. “I'll deny it if you ever mention it."
