It was a dark day for the Taco Bell faithful on Friday when the company announced the culling of 11 menu items. The bell will toll for items like the 7-Layer Burrito and the Grilled Steak Soft Taco on Aug. 13, as the company claims to be streamlining its business.

“This evolved menu approach comes after months of analyzing the new way we are running our restaurants,” the chain said in a statement. “We want to ensure an easy and fast ordering experience for our guests and team members, while simultaneously opening up opportunities for even more innovation.”

The complete list of downsized offerings includes the following: Grilled Steak Soft Taco, 7-Layer Burrito, Nachos Supreme, Beefy Fritos Burrito, Spicy Tostada, Triple Layer Nachos, Spicy Potato Soft Taco, Cheesy Fiesta Potatoes, Loaded Grillers (Cheesy Potato, Beefy Nacho), Chips & Dips, and the Mini Skillet Bowl. The Quesarito will also be removed from menu listings at Taco Bell locations, but cheese diehards will still be able to order the items online or through the app.

With this clearing out of the menu, Taco Bell will be introducing two new items. Firstly, it will introduce, for a limited time, the $5 Grande Nachos Box, which will feature beef, refried beans, cheese sauce, three-cheese blend, pico de gallo, guacamole, and reduced-fat sour cream. Secondly, a $1 Beef Burrito will be added to the chain’s Cravings Value menu on a permanent basis.

“And while change is hard, a simplified menu and innovation process will leave room for new fan favorites, continued progress in categories such as plant-based diets, and even opportunities for the return of some classics on a limited-time basis,” the statement continued.
