Bryan Mills and the team search for a foreign diplomat believed to have been kidnapped in the next episode of “Taken.”

In a sneak peek from Season 2, episode 5 of the NBC action thriller, Christina Hart (Jennifer Beals) tells Bryan (Clive Standen), Santana (Jessica Camacho), and Kilroy (Adam Goldberg) that a former army major and currently the military attaché for the Turkish embassy has gone missing for about 14 hours.

When Santana points out that at least 24 hours have to pass before someone is considered missing, Christina reveals that the man they’re looking for isn’t just an ordinary guy. “He’s a foreign diplomat who checks in regularly with his security staff,” Christina says, before noting that his phone goes straight to voice mail and is not even emitting a signal.

“Maybe he turned it off,” Kilroy says. “Occasionally, people like to throw their electronic yolks.”

Christina quickly rules out that possibility, telling the team that the Mercedes of the missing guy was found abandoned down by the Anacostia river. “If he’s been abducted, we need to find out by whom and what it is they want,” Christina says.

Bryan then suggests that the disappearance of the foreign diplomat might have something to do with the Turkish ruling party’s success in crushing a recent attempted coup. “[So] it could be somebody who’s looking for a little payback,” Santana says of the people behind the potential kidnapping.

In another sneak peek, Bryan and Santana sneak into an abandoned building and find the man they’re looking for. Unfortunately, they arrive late, as the foreign diplomat is already dead. “Looks like he was drugged and the beaten to death,” says Bryan after inspecting the bruised-up body of the foreign diplomat whom they found strapped onto a chair.

Another sneak peek from the episode suggests that the team has learned about the foreign diplomat’s connection to a sex trafficking ring. And in order to know more about the group behind the organized crime, the team forces Kilroy to go undercover and pretend to be a John.

Kilroy nervously meets with a sex worker (Arlen Aguayo) in a motel. But shortly after the sex worker steps into the room, the tech whiz quickly lets Bryan and Santana take over. The sex worker panics, but after the trio tells her that they won’t hurt her, the sex worker introduces herself as Lucia and answers some of their questions.

Santana shows Lucia a picture of a woman, whom the latter identifies as Ava. When asked if she knows where they can find her fellow sex worker, Lucia replies, “No, she hasn’t been around. That’s why he sent me.”

After learning that Lucia and Ava both work for a man named Caesar, Bryan and Santana try to convince Lucia to bring them to Caesar. “We just want to talk with him. I promise,” Bryan tells Lucia.

Is Caesar behind the foreign diplomat’s death? Only time will tell.

“Taken” Season 2, episode 5, titled “Absalom,” airs on Friday, March 2 at 9 p.m. EST on NBC. Watch the sneak peeks below:
