Taylor Swift is not only a fan of “Vampire Diaries” but also almost had the chance to guest star on the show. Former series star Nina Dobrev has revealed;ed that at one point, the writers tried to add Swift into the script.

"I remember at the very beginning, we heard that Taylor Swift was a fan of the show," Dobrev said, according to E! News. "And then the producers tried to write a role for her.”

“Vampire Diaries” ran on the CW from 2009 to 2017 and garnered an almost cult-like following amongst fans. The series followed the life of a teenage girl (Dobrev) who falls in love with a vampire (Paul Wesley).

Dobrev said she was surprised to learn Swift was a fan of the show so early on and believes she "would have been great."

“It didn't work out schedule-wise, obviously, she wasn't on the show,” Dobrev said. “But that was a surprising one.”

Although it didn’t work out for “Vampire Diaries,” Swift has had a chance to show her acting chops in other projects. Not only did she star as a bubbly teenager alongside ex-boyfriend Taylor Lautner in “Valentine’s Day” in 2010, but she also played a notable role as Jeff Bridges’s dead daughter in “The Giver” in 2014. More recently, she showed off her musical skills by acting and singing in “Cats” in December 2019.

Her flair for musicals also almost landed her a spot in 2012’s Oscar-winning “Les Misérables,” for which she auditioned for the role of Éponine, though the role eventually went to Samantha Barks.

“Ultimately, I couldn’t quite believe Taylor Swift was a girl people would overlook,” director Tom Hooper explained later.

Swift has also had cameos including lending her voice in the 2012 film, “The Lorax,” and also appeared in “Hannah Montana: The Movie,” in 2009, where she performed the song “Crazier” in one scene.
