  • Taylor Swift said all the rule books were thrown out while making "Folklore"
  • Swift is thankful her fans quickly figured out why she decided to do that
  • "Folklore" has been nominated for six Grammys, including Album of the Year

Taylor Swift poured her heart into her latest album “Folklore” and conveyed how she feels about certain issues. However, there was something on the album that she did for the first time – dropping an F-bomb in one of her songs.

Speaking in an interview for Entertainment Weekly’s Entertainers of the Year issue, the 30-year-old musician opened up about various things that went into the making of “Folklore” and why every rule book was thrown outwhile producing the hard-hitting album amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

When asked how she felt after dropping an “F-bomb” in the song “Mad Woman,” Swift replied that it felt “[explicit] fantastic” because every rule book that she created for her previous albums was “thrown out” as she decided to make what she wanted to do all along.

“Every rule book was thrown out. I always had these rules in my head and one of them was, ‘You haven’t done this before, so you can’t ever do this.’ ‘Well, you've never had an explicit sticker, so you can't ever have an explicit sticker.’ I wasn't adhering to any of the guidelines that I had placed on myself. I decided to just make what I wanted to make,” Swift said during the interview.

The "Cardigan" hitmaker also shared that she is really happy that her fans understood why she decided to not follow any guidelines for the album.

"I think my fans could feel that I opened the gate and ran out of the pasture for the first time, which I'm glad they picked up on because they are very intuitive," Swift said

During the same interview, the Grammy-winning artist also explained why stories and narratives related to divorce played a weird role in making the album.

"I found myself being very triggered by any stories, movies, or narratives revolving around divorce which felt weird because I haven't experienced it directly. There's no reason it should cause me so much pain, but all of a sudden it felt like something I had been through," the singer added.

"Folklore" is the biggest selling album of 2020. The album has been nominated for six Grammys, including Album of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Album.

Meanwhile, one of the album's songs, "Cardigan," has been nominated in the Song of the Year category.
