  • Taylor Swift has canceled her “Lover Fest” concerts
  • The shows were previously postponed due to the pandemic
  • The singer is “so disappointed” that she won’t be able to see her fans

Taylor Swift has ultimately decided to cancel her “Lover Fest” concerts amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

The “Look What You Made Me Do” singer made the official announcement in an Instagram Story Friday, saying she’s disappointed that it has come to this because she misses seeing her fans.

”This is an unprecedented pandemic that has changed everyone's plans and no one knows what the touring landscape is going to look like in the near future,” Swift wrote in a message she shared on Twitter.

“I’m so disappointed that I won't be able to see you in person as soon as I wanted to. I miss you terribly and can't wait till we can all safely be at shows together again,” she added.

In her statement, the 31-year-old singer-songwriter explained that it has come to the point that they could no longer reschedule the shows after postponing them due to the pandemic.

Swift’s “Lover Fest” shows were originally scheduled to take place in June and August 2020 in support of her “Lover” album. However, the “Lover Fest East” in Foxborough, Massachusetts, and “Lover Fest West” in Los Angeles were moved to the summer of this year due to the safety concerns involved in huge gatherings amid the global health crisis, Entertainment Tonight reported.

But now Swift has made it clear that the shows are no longer happening because the pandemic is still ongoing. Furthermore, vaccinations aren’t ramping up rapidly enough to ensure that music shows in big concert venues would be possible.

Live Nation CEO Michael Rapino previously voiced his optimistic view that concerts could resume as soon as mid-summer this year. Even if concerts would be allowed by then, Swift’s “Lover Fest” shows would have lost their charm already.

Swift’s “Lover” album was released in 2019. She has since released two other albums during the quarantine, “Folklore” and “Evermore.” As explained by Variety, the newer albums by the singer are the complete opposite of “Lover” in every aspect.

“For me, the ‘Lover’ album is open fields and sunset and SUMMER. I want to celebrate the album and perform it live with you in a way that feels authentic to the music. I want to go to some places I haven't been, and play festivals for the first time in ages… and where we didn't have festivals, we made some,” she said at the time when the concerts were announced.
