Taylor Swift supported her fellow artist JoJo during the latter's legal battle with her former label.

JoJo went through a hard time after she sued her former label, Da Family Records, an imprint of Blackground Records, over her contract. In the wake of the lawsuit, her career was put on hold. JoJo was not allowed to release new music during that time.

In a recent interview with People, JoJo said that she felt out of control like a little girl back then. She was confused and disempowered. She was wondering why it happened and was asking herself how it was her fault.

“It was very hard for me to accept something that didn't make sense. Why would they not want to put out an album? They weren't putting out anybody's album,” JoJo shared.

“To this day, Aaliyah's music is not available on streaming services because they haven't done a deal with the streaming providers.”

While she was going through the ordeal, Swift was there to support her. The “Blank Space” hitmaker sympathized with her.

“A few years ago, Taylor had me over her house, actually. She was just like, 'I can't believe everything you're going through. This is so f—ed up, so wrong, blah, blah, blah,'” JoJo recalled. “And of course, she couldn't have ever known that she would go through something similar where her catalog was bought from her."

Although Swift understood her, JoJo said that they were not in the same boat. She had it worse than Swift. The “Shake It Off” singer also got into a feud with Scooter Braun after the latter purchased her former label Big Machine Records and prohibited her from performing her old songs under the label.

“But our situations were actually quite different,” JoJo said. “I was literally being completely silenced. Taylor is in a different position in her career. I was really sidelined, and it was pretty hurtful. I don't think that her career is suffering because of whatever happened. They're still available on streaming services; that's the difference.”

In 2013, JoJo and her former label reached a settlement. She was released from her contract and was allowed to roll out new music again.

Meanwhile, Swift already wrapped up her schedule for 2020. She announced on social media that she would be canceling all of her live performances this year amid the coronavirus pandemic.

“I'm so sad I won't be able to see you guys in concert this year, but I know this is the right decision,” Swift wrote on Twitter.
