Recent “Bachelor in Paradise” contestants John Paul Jones and Tayshia Adams just couldn’t make it work and have officially called it quits, based on an Instagram post by Adams shared on Wednesday. As to why Adams called it off with Jones, it is rumored to do with Jones' maturity.

Adams’ Instagram post was a picture of her and Jones together, with the caption: “John and I had something incredibly special. We fell for each other in Paradise, and everything was a whirlwind after that. When the show ended, I truly went back to Maryland to see if what we had was something we could build on without cameras, a production crew, and without feeling any pressure: to simply figure things out on our own terms.”

Adams, 29, went on to cite their long-distance relationship as a factor in their split. She added, "We truly did the best we could, but at this time have decided that what is best for the both of us is to go our separate ways."

According to E! Online, it was more than the distance that caused the couple to have issues. The outlet reports that Adams was seeking "somebody a little more mature" than Jones. "She is just more realistic about it and they still had a lot of getting to know each other to do after the show," a source shared.

Bachelor Nation was very fond of the 24-year-old JPJ, citing his charisma and humor as his winning qualities. During the former couple's “Bachelor in Paradise” season, which aired on ABC this past summer, fans of the show got a taste of this supposed “immaturity” when Jones clashed with another one of Adams’ other love interests, Derek Peth. Peth shortly after became the new fan favorite for Adams, despite lingering feelings between the two of them.

When the season had wrapped, Adams made a surprise appearance at Jones’ Maryland home with an entire film crew during a reunion special, asking for another shot. Jones accepted, of course, but fans noticed some inconsistencies following this.

People suspected that the relationship was never actually real, while others speculated they were keeping up appearances until they could announce their breakup. Spoiler blogger Reality Steve had even hinted at this post-finale by tweeting last month, “I see what Tayshia and JPJ are posting. I’m just telling you what I’m hearing.”

Regardless of speculation, the two reality stars are now officially broken up. However, based on Adam's Instagram post, the two former co-stars remain good friends on good terms.
