A teen stabbed and killed his friend after the latter tried to stop him from harassing a neighbor. The incident occurred in Monufia Governate, Egypt on Thursday.

The accused, identified as 19-year-old Mohamed Rageh, got into a heated argument with the victim, 18-year-old Mahmoud al-Banna, near their homes after the latter advised the former to stop harassing his neighbor when he saw him beating the woman. The victim then attempted to neutralize the situation and was shunned off by the murderer.

A few hours later, the accused saw a Facebook post detailing the harassment and decided to take action. He then traced the victim to a nearby coffee shop and arrived there with a bladed weapon. The two got into a fight outside the shop during which the accused stabbed the victim in the neck and chest several times which eventually led to his death. A police complaint was filed and the investigation was underway but no arrests were made as of Thursday night.

Meanwhile, neighbors of the victim were shocked by the incident.

One of the neighbors, Abdallah, said, “I will never forget the sight of blood that covered the street today. I will not forget his grandmother standing in the middle of the street screaming, nor his grandfather, who was sitting on the ground of grieving his grandson.”

Another neighbor said, “When a boy leaves home heading to a lesson, gets killed, and doesn’t come back home, how are we supposed to feel safe leaving our homes? That way everybody should leave home with a weapon for self-defense.”
