Elon Musk’s Tesla is currently offering an irresistible deal if you plan to buy a Model 3: 5,000 free miles of Supercharging. You do need to use this within the next six months, but it would be an advantage if you regularly use the Tesla vehicle.

Now if this sounds too good to ignore, there a few valid points to take note of before you give in and get yourself one of the electric vehicle company’s most popular car. So if you’re already doubting yourself about purchasing one, you might want to skip on this report.

Tesla cars are not really made for off-roading. Although Tesla’s EVs perform far better than other automobiles in the market, the company doesn’t really cater to people who love an outdoor lifestyle. The Model 3, in particular, is not really geared for off-roading so this is not the vehicle to take if you plan to go out camping or exploring nature. The Model Y is said to be more equipped for this kind of driving but it’s still not a major feature being promoted.

Model 3 is not really built for towing. If you’re planning on using the Model 3 to help you haul stuff using third-party hitch or putting up a roof rack, don’t. According to a report, this is best left for more powerful EV brands like the Model S or Model X, or better yet, wait for the Tesla Pick-up.

The Model 3 is also not really great for miles. If you’re going to do city driving most of the time, perhaps it is best to purchase a more “economical” vehicle like the Nissan Leaf or Chevy Bolt.

Model 3 is far more expensive compared to other models in the same variant. Considering the reason above, the price of the Model 3 is so much more expensive compared brands like Nissan or Chevrolet. The Model 3 base model is now at $35,000 while the Nissan Leaf starts at $29,000.

There are also not a lot of charging stations. As mentioned above, the Model 3 is best driven in the city. Going outside most major metropolis could mean difficulty in finding charging stations although a significant expansion is happening. Tesla recently added 1,654 Superchargers and added 82 more stations in the last six months.

Apart from the technical reasons, the company is currently embattled when it comes to the production of the Model 3. If you can still wait, perhaps you should first wait until the major issues have been resolved before finally deciding to purchase Tesla’s best-selling vehicle.
