Thomas Jane Reteams With Stephen King For 'From A Buick 8' Adaptation
Thomas Jane’s love of Stephen King's stories continues as the actor has announced he will be adapting the horror novel “From A Buick 8” under his production company Renegade Entertainment.
Jane will be developing the project along with King to bring the book to life on the big screen, according to Deadline. Based on the 2002 novel, the story is about a mysterious car that has been kept hidden in the small town of Statler, Pennsylvania, for over 20 years. After some paranormal occurrences strike the town, it’s revealed that the car is supernatural. Taking place across different time periods, the book focuses on a man’s investigation into the truth of how his father died.
“From A Buick 8” is Renegade Entertainment's first film project. The movie is also being produced by Courtney Lauren Penn.
Chatting about the new film adaptation, Jane and Penn said, “'From a Buick 8' is a thrilling and deeply personal project for us as we explore a uniquely structured mystery spanning the 70s, 80s, 90s, and post-9/11 era, centered around a son’s search for the truth behind his father’s sudden death.”
They continued, “Along with first love and grief, terrifying and philosophic mysteries are spawned by inexplicable events connected to the titular car. We are honored that Stephen is supporting our vision of his brilliant, provocative novel.”
This would be the fourth time that Jane has worked on a film based on King’s novels. Jane has appeared in three adaptations, including the films “Dreamcatcher,” “The Mist,” and the Netflix original “1922.”
As for King, he has had a resurgence with his material this year with the releases of Season 2 of “Castle Rock” and the films “Pet Sematary,” “IT: Chapter Two,” and “Doctor Sleep.” Also currently in the works for King is HBO’s “The Outsider” and “Lisey’s Story” for AppleTV+ as well as the miniseries “The Stand” for CBS All Access.
